Here in Canada we still seem to be lagging in that respect. At least in smaller cities and towns.Geraldine https://www.blogger.com/profile/07410019941984295767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457470908846248022.post-46502517121051274942008-04-21T00:40:00.000-04:002008-04-21T00:40:00.000-04:00Hi Geraldine,That is one of the reasons why I chos...Hi Geraldine,

That is one of the reasons why I chose to share some things I eat. Because I want to show new vegans that there are other alternatives to one's diet without consuming animal products. Vegans can eat unhealthy as well as non-vegans. And I like to show people that one can make a variety of food choices. When I first started my path I talked a bit about nutrition and posted a link for a vegetarian food pyramid. I try my best to eat from all of the food groups each day. I know you are not saying I am headed in that direction b/c I know I eat pretty healthy and cook most of my foods. Of course we all deserve chips as you say. I know I get more protein now then I did before and I eat more veggies/ fruits/ and a variety of food now than I did before.. Being vegan has opened up new food doors that I am enjoying.Gnewveganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14520769311192292611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457470908846248022.post-82039143899594713262008-04-21T00:31:00.000-04:002008-04-21T00:31:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Gnewveganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14520769311192292611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457470908846248022.post-19878870496531122352008-04-20T13:02:00.000-04:002008-04-20T13:02:00.000-04:00I think one of the mistakes that many new vegans m...I think one of the mistakes that many new vegans make (in my humble opinion) is by putting their diet emphasis to far in the direction of desserts, lots of unrefined carbs and not enough quality protein. I am NOT saying where you are headed Gemma. I'm talking about people who seem to live on veggie hotdogs and cupcakes. Judging by the blogs, they are out there. Whatever our food choices (and I know mine could be better, don't we all?) its all about balance isnt it? I think the 80/20 rule is a good one, whatever our choices. 80% good healthy, well-thought out choices, 20% what the heck, a beer and some chips is not going to finish anyone off, once in a while! There's my rant!

Huggs, G

www.mypoeticpath.wordpress.comGeraldine https://www.blogger.com/profile/07410019941984295767noreply@blogger.com
